About Me
My name is Danielle Livoti and I am an artist and art educator. I completed my BFA in Art Education from LIU Post in 2007, and became a certified K-12 art teacher in NY. I have over 16 years of secondary art teaching experience in Drawing and Painting, Studio Art and AP Drawing. After receiving my MA in Studio art from NYU In 2009, I continued my artistic practice working in a variety of media. My work reflects my interest in shared human experiences, memories and spiritual rituals. I often paint and collage over pre-existing artworks that evolve into something new. My personal journal pages, old tickets, book pages, and other ephemera make their way into my work as a way to document my memories, process and release difficult emotions, and manifest self-empowerment by turning intent into the action of creating. Each painting is a careful and deliberate balancing act of hiding and revealing parts of myself through layers of paint and collage. I have been exhibiting work throughout Long Island for several years, but a pivotal moment for me was in 2020 when two of my paintings were selected for the Long Island Biennial at the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington, NY. This was a huge honor and solidified my love of sharing my work with others. Since then I have been participating in group shows with galleries and local venues, such as Spotlight Art (Huntington, NY), Firefly Artists (Northport, NY), BJ Spoke Gallery (Huntington, NY) and community art groups such as BACCA, Islip Art Council and Colored Colors. I have also been working hard to develop more art experiences for my local community in Brightwaters, NY through the Brightwaters Art Council, of which I am President. |
